Election Night 2012 Procedures

Elections will be held on Wednesday March 14th,from 8pm - 9pm (pizza served)

ELECTION OF PRESIDENT AND TREASURER:

Candidates for President and Treasurer will be given the following time allowances for speeches and questions:

      • Speech: 2-3 Minutes
      • Questions: 4 Minutes(may be extended at the discretion of the Election Chair)

Speeches should be concise and well practiced. Be sure to include information about past leadership experience, familiarity with Hillel as well as why you are running. After the speech is finished questions will be asked by the audience and the candidate will leave the room for the next candidate to speak.

After all candidates have spoken there will be time for questions and answers.  All questions  should be clear and respectful. No personal attacks will be permitted.

Voting will be done by ballot in the case of President and Treasurer.

CONFIRMATION OF SECRETARY AND PROGRAM / ENGAGEMENT CHAIRS

Candidates for Secretary and all program / engagement chairs will be given 2-3 minutes to offer a speech that demonstrates the direction they are hoping to take in their new position.  Confirmation of chairs / co-chairs for  will be then done by a simple hand raising vote.

HILLEL MEET AND GREET AND IDEA SHARING:

Following the official elections, students are invited to stay to discuss ideas with newly elected board members as well as to volunteer to serve on committees under an program / engagement chair.
