First-Year Early Move-in Program
Looking for a unique opportunity to get connected to life at Drexel before the rush of classes begin? Want to build relationships with new and returning students? Interested in learning about Jewish life at Drexel? JEWNIVERSITY IS FOR YOU!
With the convergence of Jewniversity and Rosh Hashanah, this year Drexel Hillel is proud to offer two options for our early move-in experience:
1) Jewn + Rosh Hashanah – Celebrate Rosh Hashanah with your new Jewn friends! Includes erev Rosh Hashanah/Shabbat services and dinner, and Rosh Hashanah morning services, lunch and afternoon activities. On campus services are egalitarian (a blend of Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist traditions), walking groups to Modern Orthodox services will be available depending on need.
2) Jewn Lite – Live or have family locally and want to go home for all or part of Rosh Hashanah? The official closing of non-holiday/Shabbat programming will conclude by 4pm to allow students who may wish to travel home to do so.
Fees
Jewn+Rosh Hashanah: $250 per student before May 1st, $275 after May 1st
Jewn Lite: $200 per student before May 1st, $225 after May 1st
Why participate in Jewniversity?
This program is a great way for incoming students to meet upperclassman and other incoming students before the academic year begins. It is an opportunity to get involved in community service projects, learn about Jewish life on campus, and more!
Who is Jewniversity for?
All incoming first-year students!! It doesn’t matter if you were involved in a Jewish youth group, camp, or nothing! Hillel will offer fun activities for everyone regardless of your Jewish background or interests. All Drexel University incoming students are welcome to participate in the program, regardless of their religion or background, but note that all programming will be geared towards Jewish student interests.
What does Jewniversity include?
Jewn includes moving in to your dorm (early!), all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), special swag (it’s fun), and any tickets (subway, mini-golf, etc.). All programs are Shabbat observant-friendly and meals are certified kosher.
In past years, we’ve offered opportunities to explore campus, visit Philly’s Old City, experience a rich Shabbat experience, and more! Check out the Sample Schedule below for more programming information.
